Karin Wadt

Professor, PhD


Karin Wadt is a consultant and professor in oncogenetics at Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, Denmark. Her expertise lies in the genetic underpinnings of melanoma, particularly focusing on germline genetics. Karin’s extensive research has contributed significantly to the understanding of genetic predispositions in melanoma, and her pioneering work in this area has led to collaborations with leading researchers both nationally and internationally.


As Chair of the Danish National Oncogenetics Group and National Coordinator of ERN GENTURIS in Denmark, Karin has played a central role in advancing the study and management of inherited cancer syndromes. Her leadership extends to being the Chair of the ERN GENTURIS Registry, a position aiding to steer European efforts to track and better understand genetic factors in cancer.

Karin’s PhD research focused on germline melanoma genetics, a field in which she has continued to explore since her PhD with a focus on both cutaneous and uveal melanoma. Her dedication to translational research and her ability to bridge clinical and genetic sciences have positioned her internationally within melanoma genetics. She regularly contributes to both national and international scientific meetings as speaker and organizer.
